Established in 2019, The UK Blind Baseball Association CIC (UKBBA) was created to proactively govern Blind Baseball in the UK, fundamentally supporting and guiding visually impaired athletes into the sport while empowering athletes through inclusive baseball.
UKBBA works closely with British Blind Sport (BBS) and AIBXC, the Italian founders, to enhance the experience for all participants.
The game originated in Italy over 20 years ago and has since gone global, with aspirations for it to eventually be played at the Paralympics.
Domestically, we currently oversee three teams: Lancashire Lions VISC, Greater Manchester Gladiators, and East Lancs Legends. Since 2023, we have organized Summer leagues and festivals, offering teams the opportunity to compete against each other from May to September. In 2025, we launched the first UK Blind Baseball league featuring three teams, and we aim for this number to grow each year as we continue to introduce and develop the game throughout the UK.
Internationally, we have taken teams into Europe to compete. In 2022, the GB team finished as runners-up to Italy at the first WBSC International Competition in Beek, Netherlands, which featured national teams from Italy, the UK, France, Netherlands, Germany, and the USA. In 2023, the GB team secured 3rd place in the European Championships. Looking ahead to 2025, we arranged for Lancashire Lions and East Lancs Legends to compete in an international club tournament in Budapest, Hungary, where Lancashire finished as runners-up and East Lancs took 3rd place in the five-team invitational tournament.
